(DiverWire) Scuba.com products were featured as a prize on the “The Price is Right” game show last week, complete with close-up shots of scuba tanks, wetsuits, regulators, buoyancy compensators, and other assorted gear.
Scuba equipment is regularly featured on the show, often in connection with trips to exotic, tropical locales like Tahiti and the Virgin Islands. According to Scuba.com instructor Bob Grundmeyer, the show often gets its equipment for their prizes directly from online retailer Scuba.com. This has been going on for years, with the iconic Scuba.com dive-flag shark sticker often visible on the scuba tanks being displayed. Gear from scuba manufacturers Cressi, Sherwood, and Oceanic have both appeared prominently on the air.
“The Price is Right” is one of the longest run game shows in history – in fact, it is the longest running gameshow that still airs an episode every week day. From its inception in 1972, all the way to 2007, the show featured the inimitable talents of host Bob Barker and his classic call for would-be participants to “Come on down!” In 2007, comedian Drew Carey took over hosting duties. Fittingly, Scuba.com is one of the oldest online scuba equipment retailers, having started offering an online catalog in 1996.
