(DiverWire) What if you could travel to exotic locations, dive the sites of dreams and learn about both dive safety and the organization dedicated to it? Now you can! Dan Orr, president of Divers Alert Network® (DAN®) and his wife, Betty Orr, DAN Services vice president of insurance, will travel to two locations this fall, each trip offering the opportunity for fellow travelers to experience first-class diving as well as learn about and even benefit DAN.
The first comes this September, when the Orrs will join Scuba Radio host Greg Holt on an Explorer Ventures liveaboard adventure to Saba/St. Kitts. From Sept. 17-24, 2011, divers will enjoy spectacular Caribbean diving along with the luxurious accommodations of the Caribbean Explorer II. Those on the trip will also get the chance to see what it’s like to be on the radio, as Holt will host his weekly Scuba Radio show from the boat. Finally, Orr will present several dive safety lectures throughout the trip, including his popular look at diving fatalities, why they happen and how to prevent them.
“We have enjoyed a long and wonderful relationship with Scuba Radio,” said Orr. “Greg Holt has been a champion of DAN for many years, and we’re looking forward to traveling with him again and interacting with his listeners.”
In November (Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, 2011), the Orrs will travel to Indonesia to host and travel with you aboard the Dive Damai II, a premier Indonesian liveaboard known for its exceptional accommodations and crew. Though travelers will enjoy unlimited diving when on the water, the trip actually begins with two days in Bali, with spectacular sights and the chance to stay with the Orrs themselves in a luxury villa surrounded by lush tropical gardens. From there, divers will join the Orrs aboard the Dive Damai II to enjoy eight days of unparalleled reefs, walls and marine life. Arranged through Reef & Rainforest, a portion of each traveler’s fees will be donated to DAN Research, and divers will also enjoy several special presentations by Dan Orr.
“DAN is able to do what it does only because of the support of the dive industry,” said Orr. “We are grateful to Reef & Rainforest for offering this very special trip. The work done by DAN Research makes us all safer, and we hope this trip represents to those who take it the chance to make wonderful memories and know a lot of good was done while making them.”
