(DiverWire) Scuba Emporium of Orland Park, IL and DJ’s Scuba Locker of Lyons, IL joined forces this past weekend to represent the SCUBA industry at one of the more prestigious boat shows in country – the 82nd Annual Progressive Chicago Boat Sports & RV Show.
Under the direction of PADI Platinum Course Director Patrick Hammer, his wife, Sherry, along with Dan and Cindy Howard and the staffs from both stores, a record number of participants tried scuba diving for the first time during the weekend. This was a first time in over 15 years that the Scuba program was run at the boat show and it was a huge success, with nearly 400 future scuba divers getting in the water.
According to Patrick Hammer, “The was a very visible example of what can happen when local dive centers work together to cooperatively market and promote recreational scuba diving. We work in a very competitive industry, but there is a time when it make sense to work together and this was one of those times. We look forward to working together again with Dan and Cindy and perhaps other dive centers in the area to get people excited about diving.”
The PADI Discover Scuba program allows individuals to get in the water and breath with a SCUBA unit – something many people have always wanted to do, but have never had the chance.
