(DiverWire) Nearly 1,000 customers stopped by DiVentures’ Grand Opening last week. The festivities kicked off with a ribbon cutting and award ceremony in the morning. Springfield Mayor Pro Tem Bob Stephens welcomed DiVentures to the area and talked about the importance of fun, recreational activities for the Ozark population. Doug McNeese, President of Scuba Schools International recognized DiVentures as a Diamond Dive Center, commending the company’s values, leadership, ethics and passion.
Many of the customers in attendance came for a chance to win big prizes. “We gave away more than $10,000 in prizes!” Marketing Director Jessica Williams said. “We can’t thank our vendors enough for their support. Their equipment donations and attendance at the event really helped bring people in.”
Vendors in attendance included representatives from: Scuba Schools International, Aqua Lung, Atomic Aquatics, SCUBAPRO, Bare, Huish Outdoor Products, Sea Life and Atmosphere Resorts.
Award-winner singer and songwriter Kelly McGuire was also in attendance. McGuire performed Saturday evening at an island themed outdoor concert. He has become a staple at DiVentures’ events, both in Missouri in Nebraska.
“Kelly is a great performer. He gets everyone in island mode, even if we are watching him play in a parking lot at the dive store.” Williams continued.
DiVentures is currently planning a musical dive trip to Belize with McGuire. The trip is scheduled for February 2-9, 2013, and will include lots of diving and concerts. For more details visit www.diventures.net.
“With all the buzz surrounding our Grand Opening and the new store, we expect the Belize trip to sell out soon,” DiVentures’ Travel Coordinator Ali Trombla said. “We’re very excited to watch travel and scuba diving grow in the Springfield area.”
