Lifetime memories captured at Great Bahamas Shark Shootout 2011

(DiverWire) It’s one of the most popular destinations in the world for photographing and interacting with sharks – Nassau, Bahamas. Earlier this month, a group of adventurous scuba divers traveled to Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas to experience the ultimate underwater adventure, also known as the Great Shark Shootout.

Hosted by Stuart Cove, the event featured world famous underwater photographer Stephen Frink and put nearly a dozen participants into the water with Caribbean Reef Sharks. “It was a incredible opportunity,” Frink points out. “The access that these divers had to sharks in the open ocean is something that only Hollywood productions have had in the past. There was total attention for every photographer. Often they would have a private shark feeder who took it upon themselves personally to help get great shots.”

Frink explained that the “Shark Shootout” event had evolved over the years and that the staff at Stuart Cove’s surprised even a veteran like himself. “I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it couldn’t get better, but it was.” The well-known internationally-published photographer said the group of photographers was able to experience some highly-creative environments that resulted in photos and images that likely will never be matched.
