(DiverWire) Sunset House has found another fantastic reason to celebrate this year and pass on a little special something to their guests and past employees! In the early years, owner Adrien Briggs took out guests from his mother’s guest house on a small pontoon boat to Cayman’s famous diving sites. Then, in May of 1972, he formed Sunset Divers, the famed dive center of Sunset House. As you may or may not know, Sunset House will celebrate its 53rd anniversary later this year, but first, Sunset Divers will celebrate its 40th anniversary with some very special partners.
To help kick off the festivities, Divers Alert Network has stepped up to become the major sponsor of the Sunset Divers 40th Anniversary Event, April 26th – 30th, 2012. Dan and Betty Orr, as well as other DAN staff will be there to launch a “Special” Initiative, (catch the announcement on our Facebook page as soon as it is permissible to announce or attend the event) as well as evenings of training options and lectures. Other sponsors for the event will be Cathy Church’s Underwater Photo Center and Ikelite .
The highlight of the event will be the Saturday evening Celebration Party where all Sunset House Guests, Divemasters from all over the Cayman Islands and past Sunset Diver Staff will be recognized. The evening will be out at My Bar, with a drink specials (as well as a few free drinks), one of Cayman’s hottest bands, appetizers, prize drawings and special guests. Some lucky winner will walk away with an Ikelite Digital System which will include a Nikon L24 Digital Camera, housing, AF-35 strobe with Compact Travel Bag to carry it all home in!

Another hot item released that weekend and that is a Limited Edition of the 9″ version of the famous Sunset House statue Amphitrite. Simon Morris, the famous sculptor who created the 9′ tall beauty sitting out on Sunset Reef, will produce only 40 signed, numbered along with a special Sunset Diver 40th anniversary plaque.
