Earlier this summer, Aqua Lung presented a $7,000 cash donation to the American Cancer Society (ACS) in support of breast cancer research. The donation was made possible as a result of the successful launches of our new women’s Pearl and Pearl i3 BCs.
“The response from our customers to support the American Cancer Society exceeded our expectations and donation goals,” said Olivier Laguette, director of marketing for Aqua Lung. “We are proud to assist such a worthy cause and would like to thank everyone who helped Aqua Lung contribute to the fight against breast cancer.”
ACS is the nation’s largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds and has been the most trusted resource for cancer information for nearly a century. Breast cancer, a cause that has affected our employees and their families and friends, is the most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women. However, partly as a result of early detection and improved treatment options from breast cancer research, the death rates from the disease are decreasing.

We will make another cash donation to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer based on the success of the Pearl and Pearl i3. The more Pearl series BCs that are sold in 2009, the larger the donation will be.
The donations will be used to fund research, treatment and education programs to fight and cure breast cancer – the most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance of a women having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.
There is hope. Right now there are slightly over 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer and the death rates from the disease are going down. The decline is partly the result of finding the cancer earlier and improved treatment options from breast cancer research.*
