Darrick Cusick, a scuba instructor for Scuba.com (www.Scuba.com) recently helped keep the Olympic spirit alive by carrying the Olympic torch during the multi-leg relay leading up to the game’s opening ceremonies.
Cusick, along with his younger brother, were among the more than 12,000 torch-bearers taking part in the relay. Darrick carried the Olympic torch Feb 4, 2010, day 98 of the torch relay leg.
According to Cusick, “This was something I’ll never forget my entire life. My brother and I each ran 300 meters near Gibson’s Landing (an area between Vancouver and Whistler). The torch looked like a flag as we were running. What an incredible experience.”
Cusick, who has worked for several years with the team at Scuba.com, was selected from many applicants to participate in the torch relay. Darrick’s duties at Scuba.com include assembling customer’s scuba gear, talking to customers about their diving questions via toll free phone, answering questions via live chat, providing service in Scuba.com’s retail store and helping customers get the most out of their dive gear. He’s been in the dive industry since 1994As part of his Olympic experience, Cusick was able to be in the audience for the Opening Ceremonies and watched a women’s hockey contest.
