Single Divers Group Leaves Behind MORE than bubbles in Bonaire

The SingleDivers.com dive group just finished their annual hugely successful Divi Bonaire Single’s Week June 20-28th. Each year the members of the group bring school supplies for local children. ‘It’s a way to leave something behind that takes very little effort on our part but can mean a great deal to the children of the countries and dive destinations we visit. School supplies are so expensive outside of the US but so inexpensive for us to bring and fill in the empty nooks and crannies in our suitcases. So when everyone in the group does a little, you end up with a lot!’ said Kamala Shadduck the group leader and founder of SingleDivers.com.

Pictured are bags of school supplies consisting of notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, construction paper, school bags, paint sets and more along with several members of the single’s group; two local teachers Hans and Goya along with some of the children who came to meet the divers.

The supplies will go to Sister Maria Hoppner Foundation which provides education and a full time home for the children ranging from 6 to 18. “Its a fabulous gesture and very appreciated by the school and the kids.” said Sara Matera, GM Divi Flamingo.

The SingleDivers.com group led by Kamala Shadduck, incorporates bringing school supplies to all the countries they visit diving via the 15-20 dive trips they run annually specifically looking for children’s groups that might have less resources such as foster homes and orphanages. The group relies on the resorts to help identify an appropriate group to give the supplies too as well as to arrange an on site visit or meeting to turn over the supplies to school representatives.
