Mares has expanded its line of diving computers exponentially with the introduction of ICON HD, featuring a full-color display, the first-ever dive computer to offer this exciting feature.
ICON HD is a true full-color display computer. Its screen is made using LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) with TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology. Consider for example, the displays used in most of the new flat screen televisions, cell phones, PDAs, notebook computers, and other similar products. They are all manufactured using TFT displays, the same technology that Mares has used for the ICON HD screen.
The information that ICON HD provides on its large color display (QVGA 320*240 pixel) combined with intuitive software, the use of large characters, and the contrast created by using different colors, makes the on screen information easy to read, immediate and clear.

ICON HD features two different diving modes Extend and Profile. The standard navigation mode; EXTEND focuses on easy readability and smart information dosage. The display will show a side window that promptly lists all stops still required in order to complete the dive correctly (i.e. deco-stops, deep-stops, and safety-stops), with its corresponding depth and duration. During the dive, besides the standard navigation mode EXTEND, divers can switch to a second dive mode, PROFILE. As soon as the dive begins, a graphic starts plotting the dive profile the diver is creating while ICON HD processes and shows the full dive curve in real time. Both modes reveal the strengths and advantages of the high definition color display. User-friendly 4-button operation ensures easy access and intuitive operation to all functions and settings thanks to the unique Icon-based menu.
In addition, the computer’s memory allows the storage of images and photos, including digital maps of diving spots. MAPS can be displayed during the dive in order to optimize orientation underwater. We also added a digital compass that can be used both during the dive and on the surface.
