Indian Valley Scuba Named PADI Tec Rec Center

(DiverWire) Indian Valley Scuba (www.indianvalleyscuba.com), in Harleysville, PA has been recognized as one of PADI’s first TecRec Centers in the Northeast United States, and one of only a few PADI Instructor Development Centers to offer professional level training in the full range of PADI Technical Courses.

The technical team at IVS, headed up by PADI Course Director / Technical Instructor Trainer David Valaika & PADI Master Instructor / Technical Instructor Avery Chipka, offer the full range of TecRec courses from Discover Tec through to TriMix including both Diver and Professional levels. In addition, we are eagerly awaiting the release of the PADI rebreather programs and preparations have already begun to offer the full range of rebreather courses and cave training at Indian Valley Scuba.

Avery, along with his wife and fellow instructor Casey, recently relocated after three successful years managing a technical dive center in Key Largo, to join the team at Indian Valley Scuba.  “We felt we had reached a personal development plateau with destination diving & training in the Keys”, Avery said. “We began our search for a forward-thinking dive center that was actively growing their technical training and travel segments, and that led us to Indian Valley Scuba.  They are committed to taking the technical side of their business to the national level, like they have grown the recreational and travel sides.”  Casey added “The founders, Sue Douglass and Dave Valaika, are true professionals in every aspect of the business and we know we’ve found a home here for ourselves and our daughter Megan in “the center of the scuba diving universe”, as the folks at IVS like to say!”

On the technical side, between David & Avery the two have logged over 20,000 dives and share fifty years of experience throughout the world including caves, deep ocean wrecks, and trips below the Ice.  Avery holds PADI’s Master Instructor and Tec Instructor ratings, while Valaika is a PADI Course Director and Tec Instructor Trainer.  Both also hold instructor or instructor-trainer ratings with TDI, IANTD, DAN, and several other agencies.

Indian Valley Scuba is the only dive center in the Northeast with a full range of Technical Equipment, Rebreathers & Dry Suits from over 100 different leading manufacturers under one roof. IVS’s repair department services every major brand, including drysuit and rebreather repairs. In addition to the many other services provided by IVS, an onsite pool provides access to instant confined water training and a state of the art filling & blending station powered by two compressors and boosters allows IVS to provide any mix of gas you may need.

“At IVS we are passionate about Technical Diving”, says Valaika, “and are thrilled with having Avery & Casey on board as we add the PADI Technical Programs to our wide range of technical offerings. Stop in to see us at our main location in Harleysville, PA or visit one of our satellite training centers to learn more about what Indian Valley Scuba can do to take your diving and training to new depths!”
